Come support CCAN’s work at our 4th Annual Polar Bear Plunge on January 10, 2009. This year, we’re expecting 100s of people to run, jump and dash into the icy waters of the Chesapeake Bay near Annapolis. It’s always a blast and the event raises crucial funds to keep us fighting for clean energy. Go to www.keepwintercold.org to join the plunge or to donate to your favorite plunger. SVP will be providing audio.
Nerds rejoice: Save vs. Poison proudly presents Nerdfest 2008. Located at Load of Fun Studio, events start at 4:00 with Magic the Gathering and some old time Dungeons and Dragons. We will also have Atari 2600 on a giant projection screen, Sega Genesis [Sonic fans cheer], and probably some Nintendo. To help the brain, there will also be science experiments and math lecture by a real life mathematician. Bands get going around seven with local grind overlords Shit the Bed, Star Wars hardcore Sarlacc, Harry Potter noise Order of Merlin, a Dune mini-opera by Bene Gesserit Witch, and the AD&D thrash of Perverse Osmosis. We may also have a harpist if all goes as planned. Mountain Dew and Pixie Sticks for all. Bring your dice, bring your deck, bring your test tube.
Save vs. Poison proudly presents America’s Next Pot Model on April 19. Come see OFM, Puddle, and Perverse Osmosis (among others) as we celebrate an illegitimate activity with a legitimate fashion show.
Save vs. Poison’s newest production: Balti-Gras 2008. Come see local disaster rockers OFM, 2008’s answer to Cream with The Flying Eyes, the sultry sounds of Gunwife Gun, and the manic thrash of Perverse Osmosis. Beer, beads, boobs, and beans make for one crazy evening.
Save vs. Poison turns that holiday frown upside down by presenting The Lynch Who Stole Xmas party this Saturday night. That’s right, put on that Agent Cooper trenchcoat, wrap yourself in plastic, or rot some teeth out, and come down to the Hamilton Art Collective for one wacky celebration of all things Lynch.
Party starts at 8:00 with an hour’s worth of free PBR, in honor of Blue Velvet’s Frank. Music begins around 8:30 with the soothing sounds of the slow club (2/5th of GunWife Gone), followed by local insanity-provokers Puddle. Up next is the entity known as OFM, bringing their special blend of mind-bending psychotropic space rock. The evening’s entertainment ends with a Dune mini-opera by Bene Gesserit Witch: that’s right, a mini-rock opera about Dune.
